Coaches

Michael Maroney
Dr. Michael Maroney, philosopher, athlete, triathlon history maker, swim coach with a hint of Dick Caine mixed with Roy Hewitt, Brett Sutton . Mick is passionate about swimming, training, his mates and his family. If you love hard work, want to train hard, like the tough sets, and take challenges in your stride, you will strike a bond with this very knowledgeable coach. Mick is currently preparing athletes for the Triathlon World Championships and Hawaiian Ironman, not to mention a small handful of athletes having a crack at Yeppoon for the first time.

Justine Maroney
I am a lucky coach, I have only coached at two pools, SLC and ELC. I love swimming I love the lifestyle it affords us when we are healthy, happy, balanced families. I admire many swimmers and coaches, but my favourites are those who have helped me shape the coach I am or striving to be/become, inspirational, hardworking coaches, Sandra Romanis, Doug Frost, Tracey Stegbauer (nee Menzies), Greg Hodge, Bruce Vyvyan, all of whom I have enjoyed working alongside and working in a team environment. Not a long list but a inspirational bunch none the same. I have a favourite swimmer, and I make no bones about the fact that Ian Thorpe is not only an amazing swimmer, but he is an exceptional human being who is an over-acheiever in and out of the pool. Not may people know that Ian is fun, he is intelligent and he is singly resposible for finally making our sport popular, which is saying a lot in our sports/ football crazy community.
